Step up to the power of Serial ATA (SATA) with Western Digital’s Serial ATA RAID Controller. With two independent data channels, this controller allows the connection of one SATA hard drive or two drives configured for data striping (RAID 0) or mirroring (RAID 1).

For maximum performance a striped array, also know as RAID 0, allows two identical drives to read and write data in parallel doubling the sustained data transfer rate of Serial ATA drives.

For optimum data protection the Western Digital SATA RAID Controller also offers fault tolerant data redundancy (RAID 1 mirroring) for entry-level network file servers or for desktop PC users simply wanting to continually protect valuable data on their PC. Should a drive that is part of a mirrored array fail, Western Digital SATA RAID Controller uses the mirrored drive (which contains identical data) to assume all data handling. When a new replacement drive is later installed, Western Digital SATA RAID Controller rebuilds data to the new drive from the mirrored drive to restore fault tolerance.
