This system level test measures the hard drive case temperature while operating in a notebook. The WD Scorpio drives run cooler than its 4200 RPM competitors.
Thermal imaging pictures under same conditions shows that even the coolest of the slower 4200 RPM drive, still operates +1.4C hotter that the WD Scorpio 5400 RPM drive.
