Community Grants Program
The Western Digital Foundation awards community grants to nonprofit organizations and schools via a competitive application process. Due to the number of requests, we have set forth guidelines and policies that we ask requestors to review prior to application. Grant applications are considered twice each year and only online applications are accepted.
Grants are available for programs in geographical locations where we operate business units.
Grants are focused on three key areas of interest:
- Education with a strong emphasis on the STEM initiative.
- Basic Needs with a strong emphasis on providing “a hand up rather than a hand out” to reduce and prevent homelessness.
- Civic & Community with an emphasis on environmental preservation, services to veterans, and programs that contribute to the betterment of local communities.
Proposals are reviewed by Western Digital Corporation employee committees at each location site for recommendation of denial or approval and Western Digital Foundation makes the final recommendation.
If an organization wishes to be considered for a community grant, they must meet the eligibility requirements under Grant Guidelines and apply via an online application.
The Foundation offers two application periods per year with deadlines on January 15th and July 15th. Community grant awards are limited to one per organization, per year. Organizations receiving three consecutive years of funding will be required to cycle out for one year before applying for additional funding.
Please review our Grant Guidelines before applying. Access to the online application can be found under the Grant Application tab.
